However, this then led to me being actively involved throughout the rest of my school years as a volunteer. I then returned to gain even further experience as my first year college placement to complete my primary school aged children as part of my level 3 diploma in childcare and education course.
During my time at this placement I worked alongside a child which had autism which provided me with additional knowledge about how to work with children with a special educational need.
I also had the responsibility to talk to the parents and carers of the children I was working with. I assisted members of staff to help them complete children's daily routines. This included working with babies which aged between 3months - 2 years old.
As this was the age that i preferred to work with i choose to complete my additional hours at this placement. During my time at this placement I worked alongside a toddler which had down syndrome this gave me the chance to improve my skills and experiences when working with children with special educational needs.
I also got to engage with parents and carers throughout the day when they came to the setting to pass on information about their child. This gave me the chance to improve my communication skills and my confidence to speak to new people.
